Meet Steven Hudson
Steven Hudson has a coaching and mindful therapy practice in Cape Town dedicated to helping individuals, leaders, and organisations navigate complexity with greater clarity, awareness, and purpose.
His interest in human behaviour began with a curiosity about the connection between illness (physical illness, anxiety, and others) and wellbeing, and how we can improve quality of life by becoming more self-aware. Over the years, Steve has pursued various studies and trainings, exploring many cultures and belief systems to develop tools that free people.
Steve holds a BSc in Psychology with distinction and Information Systems from the University of South Africa (UNISA). He has spent decades exploring the relationship between psychology, mindfulness, personal growth, and the science of change. For him, these disciplines are not separate ideas of interest but interconnected pathways that help us better understand ourselves and the world around us.
At the age of 21, Steven began a meditation practice that remains a daily part of his life more than 35 years later. This practice has been one of the most influential aspects of his personal and professional journey, informing his understanding of mindfulness, counselling, coaching, and the ways in which people create lasting change.
Steve’s passion for the complex and sometimes competing intersections between growth, the human psyche, and science has driven his desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. He believes that when people begin to recognise their own innate power and learn how to live mindfully with it, the impact extends far beyond the individual. It influences relationships, families, workplaces, and communities.
Over the past 35 years, Steve has immersed himself in these ideas, exploring how seemingly different ways of understanding ourselves can coexist and complement one another.
“Mostly, I have come to understand that these engagements are iterative, rarely static, conflicted, enlivening and something that should be shared.” — Steven Hudson
This perspective forms the foundation of his work. Steven Hudson pursued this work in response to the tension many people experience between what they know, what they are told, what they have lived through, and what they instinctively hold to be true. Creating space for those conversations and helping people navigate them with curiosity and compassion lies at the heart of the practice.
Whether working through mindful therapy in Cape Town with individuals, supporting senior leaders, or guiding organisational growth, Steven’s focus remains the same: helping people understand themselves more clearly so they can move forward with greater confidence, awareness, and intention.
Outside of work, Steve entertains himself with a never-ending passion for learning and random facts, the kind that come in handy at dinner parties more often than you'd think. He also enjoys hiking, cooking, and arranging cutlery neatly in drawers, a habit he's picked up since getting married.
